Bringing in the New Year with Good Luck......

Feliz Ano Nuevo !!! (Happy New Year!!!)

Don't you agree? 2006 was just here and now in the past. It seems like time is now racing and we have to speed up to catch up. That's not a bad thing to do. It keeps me on the go and motivates me to stay focused and not forgetting to stop and smell the roses. Looking back in my past, remembering the wonderful memories with my parents who gave me the gift of life and gave me the strength to challenge myself to be the best. They gave us wonderful advise that we honor and continue traditions and incorporate them into our family to pass on to their children. Let's take the New Year Holiday tradition. Mi Mamasita (my mother) would say, cleanse your home (clean) not to have dirty laundry, no dirty dishes to welcome the new year in with a healthy clean home. Then, she would then be ready to bring in the New Year with Buenelos. She said it was for good luck. Why? I haven't a clue. Guess what? I will carry on the tradition, my home is clean and ready to share my good luck with you.

4 cups unbleached flour
2 tbsp cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cups milk
1 cup sugar extra to sprinkle
1/4 cups butter

Preheat deep fryer to 375. In a large bowl combine 1 cup of sugar and cinnamon together, mix well then set aside. In a large bowl, beat eggs and milk then add flour, remaining sugar, and butter. Stir mixture together to form a soft dough. Place dough on a floured surface and knead for 4 to 6 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic. Divide dough into 40 small or 20 large balls. Roll into 4 or 6-inch circles. Fry in hot canola oil for about 30-45 seconds or until lightly brown on each side. Drain off excess oil on paper towels. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Good Luck! Mi Amigos.....
